Last week, the Quarterfinals ended, making way for the Semifinals where the teams are an even 2-2! Will it be Team Cruz vs. Team Faber in the finals? Or will it be Teammate vs. Teammate!?
-TUF 15 Semifinals-
James Vick vs. Michael Chiesa
Official: Round 2 – TKO 1:55, Michael Chiesa
Vick declares his range early but isn’t able to land anything. Chiesa patiently waits for him to over commit and gets the body lock. Vick actually takes him down twice in the scramble before the y break. Vick begins to counter punch with success allowing him to chase Chiesa. Chiesa’s striking is extremely low level. Vick just can’t land with any power but the grazing shots keep Chiesa going backwards. Chiesa goes down and Vick locks up a super-tight Long-Arm Guillotine but Chiesa survives the round. Both come out hungry in the Second. The few times Chiesa lands a strike, it does have some power on it. Chiesa charges in and gets a big double! Mounts! TKO! Where did that come from!?
-TUF 15 Semifinals-
Vinc Pichel vs. Al Iaquinta
Official: Unanimous Decision – 20-18, Al Iaquinta
Iaquinta comes out aggressive but backs off once Pichel lands some good counters. Iaquinta goes for a takedown but has to work hard it, eventually dragging Pichel down, securing Back Control. Pichel escapes and we’re back on the feet. Both guys exchange shots fairly equally. Iaquinta ducks under a punch and gets a big takedown but Pichel works aggressively off his back but eats some big punches before Iaquinta locks up a D’Arce. Pichel toughs through and works his way to the feet before the bell sounds. This is a good, tough fight. Iaquinta starts off strong with some hard shots. Pichel doesn’t back down and bloody’s Iaquinta’s face a bit. Iaquinta is doing very well countering now as Pichel tries to take the lead. Pichel is bloody now too. Iaquinta tries to finish the round with a takedown but eats a ton of punches instead before backing out.
